About Julie Palmer
Julie lives in Chichester, England with her husband Neil and her five year old son Charlie. She came to study art at Chichester University in 1990 and graduated with a B.A. (Hons) degree in 1992. Over the years, she has painted people and animal portraits, and in recent times has focused purely on her pet portraits.
Since establishing the business in 1996, her work has travelled across the world. She now regularly receives commissions from many places across the globe, including Canada, USA, Ireland, Australia and of course, here in England. Julie always seeks to capture the inner beauty of each artistic commission she undertakes. She is greatly inspired by this quote from Camille Corot:-
"While busily attempting the most painstaking imitation of nature, I do not for a moment let go of the feeling which has gripped me. Reality is a part of art but emotion completes it."
(Jean Baptiste Camille Corot)
Commissions
In 2002, Julie was commissioned to paint the irish setter for "Emmerdale" (ITV). Followers of the programme will recognise Ray Mullin's dog as a regular feature on the show.

In 1998, Julie painted a portrait which was to become the main marketing image for "Invisible Tears", a musical performed at the Minerva, Chichester Festival Theatre. The flyer from the show is seen opposite.
"Chichester Festival Theatre ...is one of the United Kingdom's flagship theatres with an international reputation for quality and innovation". (Wikipedia)
Art Lecturer and Tutor
Julie is on the arts education team at Pallant House Art Gallery, Chichester.
Pallant House is committed to developing programmes which allow access to marginalised artists. It has a dynamic and innovative learning programme, and holds the bi-annual "Outside In" arts exhibition. In 2009 a regional competition was held that celebrated the best in modern art from marginalised artists. Julie is currently helping students with learning difficulties to explore the current exhibitions at the gallery and create work inspired from these experiences.
Julie is also co-founder of "Starburst Arts"
"Starburst Arts" was founded in 2003 as facility for people with and without learning disabilities to access art workshops and projects. Julie has held a number of workshops involving portraiture and the development of artistic voice. The centre is based in Terminus Road, Chichester, West Sussex.
